The pie charts below show the sources of electricity generation in a European country in 2000 and 2020. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.
What the chart shows
Two pie charts comparing the sources of electricity generation in a European country in 2000 and 2020, in percentages. In 2000 coal was the largest source at 45%, followed by natural gas (25%), nuclear (22%) and renewables (only 8%). By 2020 coal had fallen sharply to 18%, while renewables rose more than fourfold to 35%, becoming the second-largest source. Natural gas edged up slightly to 27% and nuclear fell marginally to 20%. Overall, the country shifted away from coal towards renewable energy over the two decades.
