Section 1. You will hear a telephone conversation between a woman booking a self-catering holiday cottage and the owner. First, you have some time to look at questions 1 to 5. Now listen carefully and answer questions 1 to 5. MAN: Hello, Meadow Farm Cottages. WOMAN: Hi, I'd like to book one of your cottages for a family holiday. MAN: Lovely. We've three cottages. There's Rose Cottage, which sleeps four, Brook Cottage, sleeps six, and the larger Barn, which sleeps eight. WOMAN: There'll be five of us, three adults and two children. MAN: Then Rose is too small at four, so Brook Cottage would suit you, plenty of room for five. WOMAN: Brook Cottage, that sounds perfect. MAN: And how many nights? WOMAN: We were thinking a week, but with work it'll have to be shorter, let's say five nights. MAN: Five nights. And when were you thinking? WOMAN: Arriving on the fourteenth of August. MAN: The fourteenth, let me check, no, I'm afraid Brook is taken until the fifteenth. Could you come on the sixteenth instead? WOMAN: The sixteenth of August works, yes. Before you hear the rest of the conversation, you have some time to look at questions 6 to 10. MAN: Grand. Now the cost. Brook Cottage is normally seven hundred pounds for the week, but as you're taking five nights rather than seven, it comes to five hundred and fifty. WOMAN: Five hundred and fifty, fine. MAN: I'll need a deposit to hold it, that's a hundred pounds, with the balance due on arrival. WOMAN: A hundred-pound deposit, I'll transfer that today. MAN: When you arrive, the office may be shut, so you won't collect the key from me, there's a key safe by the front door, and I'll text you the code. WOMAN: A key safe, great. MAN: One more thing, do you have any pets? We do allow dogs, but there's a small extra charge for cleaning. WOMAN: No pets, just the children. MAN: Then no charge. Now, everything's provided, bed linen and towels included, and the wood for the log burner is stacked outside, free to use. The only thing we ask is that you bring your own food, obviously, and there's no wifi, I'm afraid, the signal out here is too weak. WOMAN: No wifi, the kids will survive. And how far is the nearest shop? MAN: There's a village shop about two miles away in Ashcombe, that's your nearest. The big supermarket's a good half-hour's drive, so most people stock up before they come. WOMAN: Two miles, we'll manage. Thank you so much. MAN: See you on the sixteenth.
