Section 1. You will hear a telephone conversation between a man booking a cycling holiday for a group and a member of staff at a tour company. First, you have some time to look at questions 1 to 6. Now listen carefully and answer questions 1 to 6. WOMAN: Good morning, Pedal Ventures, Sarah speaking. MAN: Hello, I'd like to book places on one of your guided cycling holidays for a group of us. WOMAN: Wonderful. Which tour did you have in mind? MAN: We were torn. A couple of us liked the coastal tour, and one keen type pushed for the mountain tour, but as a group we've settled on the river-valley one, it's the flattest, and not everyone's superfit. WOMAN: The river-valley tour, a lovely gentle choice. And how many in the group? MAN: Well, five of us were interested, but one's just dropped out with a bad knee, so book it for four, please. WOMAN: Four riders. And which departure? The next is the ninth of May. MAN: May's too soon, people need to book time off work. What have you in June? WOMAN: There's one on the sixth of June, and another on the twentieth. MAN: The sixth of June suits everyone. WOMAN: The sixth it is. Now, accommodation, you can camp, which keeps the cost right down, or stay in guesthouses along the route. MAN: We're all a bit past camping, so guesthouses, please. WOMAN: Guesthouses. That works out at five hundred and eighty pounds a head. Camping would have been four hundred and fifty, and the premium hotel upgrade is seven hundred, but the guesthouses are the popular middle choice, and the price includes all your evening meals. MAN: Five hundred and eighty, with meals included, that's fine. WOMAN: I'll post an information pack to whoever's organising, that's you? What's the postcode? MAN: Yes, send it to me. It's B-R-six, four-T-H. Before you hear the rest of the conversation, you have some time to look at questions 7 to 10. WOMAN: Four-T-A, did you say, at the end? MAN: No, it ends in an aitch, not an A. WOMAN: B-R-six four-T-H, got it. Now, the price includes bike hire, and we give each rider a helmet and a repair kit. The one thing we don't provide is a water bottle, so everyone should bring their own. MAN: A water bottle each, I'll tell them. WOMAN: And any dietary needs across the group? The guesthouses cater for most things with notice. MAN: Let me think, most are fine, but one of us is gluten-free. WOMAN: One gluten-free, I'll pass that on. Last thing, on the first morning everyone meets at the old market square in the town centre, at nine sharp. People sometimes go to our office by mistake, but it's the market square you want.
