You will hear a telephone conversation between a woman booking a room at a hotel and a receptionist. First, you have some time to look at questions 1 to 8.
Now listen carefully and answer questions 1 to 8.
MAN: Good afternoon, the Harbour View Hotel, how may I help?
WOMAN: Hello, I'd like to book a room for a couple of nights, please.
MAN: Certainly. Can I take a name for the booking?
WOMAN: Yes, it's under Mrs Greaves. That's G-R-E-A-V-E-S.
MAN: Greaves, thank you, with the 'ea'. And which nights were you thinking of?
WOMAN: We'd arrive on Friday the fourteenth and leave on the Sunday.
MAN: So that's the fourteenth and fifteenth, checking out on the sixteenth, two nights. Now, we have three room types. There's a Standard double, a Superior, which is larger and higher up, and the Deluxe, which has the sea view.
WOMAN: What's the difference in price?
MAN: The Standard is ninety pounds a night, the Superior a hundred and ten, and the Deluxe a hundred and forty.
WOMAN: We're celebrating an anniversary, so let's treat ourselves, the Superior, please. The Deluxe is a bit much.
MAN: A lovely choice. Now, breakfast. It can be included for an extra twelve pounds each per morning, or you can just pay on the day if you fancy it. Most guests add it.
WOMAN: Yes, add breakfast for both of us, please.
MAN: Done. And will you be needing parking? We have a small car park behind the hotel, it's eight pounds a night, but I should mention there's free parking on the street after six in the evening.
WOMAN: We'll use your car park, it's easier.
Before you hear the rest of the conversation, you have some time to look at questions 9 to 10.
MAN: Right. Two other things it's worth knowing. Check-in is from three in the afternoon, but if you arrive earlier we're happy to store your bags. And the hotel is entirely non-smoking indoors. Oh, and could I take a contact number?
WOMAN: Of course, it's oh-seven-nine-double-one, three-four-oh, two-eight-six.
MAN: Let me read that back, oh-seven-nine-one-one, three-four-oh, two-eight-six. Lovely, you're all booked, Mrs Greaves.
WOMAN: Wonderful, thank you.
